Privacy Policy

How FoundScholar collects, uses and protects your information, including cookies, analytics, advertising, and your privacy rights.

This Privacy Policy explains how FoundScholar ("we", "us") collects, uses and safeguards information when you visit foundscholar.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect two kinds of information:

  • Information you give us voluntarily. When you contact us or subscribe to updates, you may provide your name, email address and the contents of your message. We only use this to respond to you and, if you subscribe, to send you the updates you asked for.
  • Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically receive certain technical data when you browse, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, referring page and time spent. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see below).

2. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device that help the Site function and help us understand how it's used. We use them for essential Site operation, to remember preferences, and to measure traffic and performance. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the Site may not work as intended if you do.

3. Analytics

We use Umami Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics tool, to understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. Umami does not track individuals across sites and does not sell data to third parties. You can learn more from Umami's own privacy policy.

4. Advertising

We do not currently run third-party advertising on the Site. If that changes, we will update this section to describe which ad network we use and how it uses cookies, and we will revise the "Last updated" date above.

5. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to: operate, maintain and improve the Site; respond to your messages and enquiries; send updates and newsletters you have subscribed to; understand traffic and content performance; and detect, prevent and address technical issues or misuse.

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with trusted service providers who help us run the Site (such as hosting, analytics and email delivery), strictly so they can perform those services. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

The Site links to third-party websites, including official application pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described here (for example, to respond to your enquiry or to keep you subscribed until you opt out), and then delete or anonymise it, unless a longer period is required by law.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. If you are in the EU/EEA (GDPR) or California (CCPA/CPRA), these rights may apply to you. To exercise any right, contact us at hello@foundscholar.com and we'll respond as required by law. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any message.

10. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates take effect when posted here with a revised "Last updated" date. Please review this page periodically.
